SANTALLITES in Bishop Auckland
On 20 December, Street Cosmos came to Bishop Auckland as part of our Christmas SANTALLITES series.
Hosted by local food charity Little Chef Big Chef CIC, we ran a small community workshop where local families who use the charity could build ‘satnav for Santa’! We wove a narrative that the North Pole Team had commissioned Durham University and NET Park (County Durham science park) to develop some new tech to give them the edge this year. NET Park needed local children’s help to make Christmas versions of ‘CubeSats’ – next generation micro satellites that are manufactured by companies based there.
We were able to combine learning about satellite instrumentation and opportunities in the space tech industry with celebrations of the festive season!
